In 2024, 39,385 Kilograms of Waste Were Recovered at Our University Within the Scope of the Zero Waste Project


The Zero Waste Project, implemented at Istanbul Gelisim University to promote environmentally friendly practices, achieved significant progress throughout 2024. Between January 1 and December 31, 2024, a total of 51,667 kilograms of waste was collected, classified, and recorded as part of the waste collection efforts.


Recyclable waste was collected as follows:
 
18,319 kg of paper
 
14,784 kg of plastic
 
3,922 kg of glass
 
2,360 kg of metal
 
A total of 39,385 kilograms of recyclable waste was delivered to a licensed recycling company affiliated with the Avcılar Municipality, contributing to the economy. In this way, the project supported the conservation of natural resources and energy savings.
 
Additionally, 3,734 kg of organic waste and 8,548 kg of non-recyclable household waste were also separated in accordance with environmental standards for proper disposal.
